About
I am a systems engineer operating at the boundary between manufacturing and computer science. I work with machine shops that are already compensating for technical problems — often quietly — before those problems harden into cost, delay, or failure.
My judgment is grounded in 15 years of direct responsibility for outcomes inside production environments. Vertical mills, CNC lathes, surface grinders — I've stood at the control, heard what a crash sounds like, and made the decisions that propagate through throughput, reliability, and margin. This work is shaped by real constraints, not abstract analysis performed at a distance.
I then completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science — not to leave manufacturing, but because I kept seeing problems on every shop floor that could be solved with software, and nobody was solving them. The people writing the software had never stood at the machine. The people at the machine couldn't write the software. I bridge that gap.
My services include custom CNC post-processor development for any CAM and control combination, Fanuc and Haas macro programming, machine monitoring and OEE dashboards, quality and inspection data systems, and custom shop floor software tools.
Based in Idaho, serving shops nationwide. Post-processor work, macros, and software development are done remotely. For local shops, I'm available on-site for proving, implementation, and training.
My rate is $150 per hour with a half-hour minimum. Project pricing available for larger engagements. Retainer options available for ongoing support.
How Engagements Begin
Engagements begin with a free conversation focused on understanding your situation — your equipment, your workflow, and where you're losing time or money. This initial conversation is diagnostic. I'm listening for problems I can solve, and I'll be direct about whether I can help.
If work proceeds, scope, deliverables, and cost are defined explicitly in a written agreement before any commitment is made. There is no obligation beyond the initial conversation.
